Class Title: Beginners Fused Glass Class

Description: 

You will learn the proper use of glass cutting tools, and explore the colorful world of glass. You will create 2 projects and leave them with the instructor to fire in a kiln. They’re usually ready to pick up at the Sebastian River Art Club one week later.

Note: The cost is $40.00 including all materials and firing. Only 6 participants per class!  Please reserve your space in advance by emailing the the Art club or instructor. Cash or checks will be accepted on the day of the course.

Artist’s Statement:

 

Bio/Education & Experience: 

I was a teacher for many years, and  a school counselor for the last 15 years of my career. I worked in an art-integrated elementary school, where I re-connected my passion for the arts. As a counselor, I’d let the students explore their passion through the arts so they could have a positive self-image. One of the strategies I used with the students was for them to create small clay forms while expressing their emotions. While working with the students, I also started to create works of art. 

Outside the school, I also started developing my own passion, and I started exploring fused glass. I was immediately hooked on working with glass. My fascination with glass grew even more significant after participating in several classes and workshops at the Craft Gallery and the Artmory Art Center in West Palm Beach, FL. I have taught Fused Glass in West Palm Beach, FL, Leesburg FL, and also in Newland, NC at the Avery County Senior Center. As a result, I have been creating fused glass art pieces since 2010.
