Bio/Education & Experience:
I am mostly self- taught. My desire of drawing stood the test of time, while raising five children and as a Military wife. I also worked 21 years in Medical Business administration while pursuing Art. I studied with pastelist Phillip Lakka for a time. Then studied oil, with Bonnie Sears and Mary Jones through the Gwinnett Council for the Arts in Georgia. I also audited two semesters at a local college art dept.
I have won Best in Show, First Place and People’s Choice awards along with other ribbons along the way. I have been juried into, two Southeastern Pastel Society’s international shows. I have work in private homes in Georgia, North and South Carolina, Virginia and Florida.
Teaching experience: Previously I taught pastel classes for Sebastian River Art Club.
Your goal as a teacher: My goal as a teacher is to share the things I have learned on this journey with art. To help you take your pencil drawing to a painting. Learning value, tone, line and depth, and learning how to mix color. This will help build skills and knowledge for anyone looking for a foundation in art.
Art Memberships: Southeastern Pastel Society, Gwinnett Council for the Arts, Gwinnett Visual Art Alliance, A.R.T. Station, in Georgia. Currently member of The Sebastian River Art Club, Vero Beach Art Club, Vero Beach Museum of Art.
Artists’ statement: I just love the oil medium. The paintings have a brilliance like the old masters. I use my knowledge of pastels in my oil painting. Oil is a forgiving medium – blending easily and working in a variety of ways like wet in wet or semi dry.
