Rosalee T. Hume of Micco, FL died December 17, 2010 at The Health Center of Merritt Island, Merritt Island, FL after a prolonged illness.

She was born November 15, 1912 in Roseland, FL, moved to Sebastian, FL around 1917 and then to Micco, FL, after her marriage to James Hume in 1941.

Rosalee graduated from Vero Beach High School, attended Florida State College for Women (FSU), the University of Florida and Ringling School of Art during summer sessions. She was a homemaker, substitute teacher, and employee of Harris Corporation for twenty-two years. She retired from Harris as a quality control inspector. After retirement she indulged in her life long passion for art as a painter and sculptor. Rosalee created over a hundred bronze sculptures. The largest was the statue of Paul Kroegel, the first U.S. Game Warden, which stands in Riverside Park in Sebastian. In 1999, during the Clinton Administration, one of her small statues of Paul Kroegel was selected to hang on the White House Christmas tree along with the work of other artists. The bust she sculpted of Bama Lawson, an early resident of Sebastian, is displayed in the North Indian River County Library. Her sculpture entitled "He Is Not Here" was featured in the March-April 1996 issue of The Upper Room Daily Devotional. Rosalee's body of work also includes numerous oil and acrylic paintings created throughout her life.

Mrs. Hume was a life member of the Sebastian River Art Club, charter member of the Vero Beach Art Club, a member of the Brevard Art Center and Museum, and a charter member of The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C. In 2008 the Sebastian River Art Club created a scholarship in her honor that is awarded each year to a student pursuing a career in the arts. Rosalee was also a member of The Sebastian United Methodist Church for over 80 years.
