Watercolor with Black Pen and other Mixed Media

Gwen McNenney

radgwe1@comcast.net

Gwen will present examples of various pieces executed in styles ranging from relatively tight to quite loose …all done using watercolor plus one or more types of extra media on either paper or aquaboard surfaces. Gwen will have numerous photos available for participants to choose from for their individual pieces, or they may bring something of their own from home. Hopefully, participants will feel inspired to at least begin a piece with a goal of completing it either in class or at home.

Materials:

  • Watercolor paper (strong enough to hold mixed media, but not too rough.  140 lbs. is a good choice.  300 lbs. is too rough if using pen

  • Black art pens (I use Faber Castell or Micron in various sizes).  I will have some pens for loan during  class for those who don’t have any.

  • Drawing pencil and eraser

  • Watercolors

  • Brushes

  • Other mixed media such as markers, colored pencils, pastels, etc.
